High Performance Window Glazing (Double Glazing)
Double glazing, which is also known as insulated glazing, is the use of two pieces of glass to assist with noise reduction and heat transmission for doors and windows. With a standard single-glazed window, both heat and noise are easily transferred.
By using two (double glazed) panes of glass, the gap between the panes dramatically reduces heat and sound transmission. The double glazed unit is often referred to as an IGU (insulated glass unit). In cheaper products, the gap may only be air. In more efficient, higher quality units, the use of a gas such as argon to fill the gap achieves superior results.
Switchable Glass or Smartglass
Privacy Smartglass, also referred to as privacy glass or switchable glass, is electric switchable glass with adjustable opacity.
It uses electro-chromatic technology to alternate between a transparent and an opaque state by applying voltage.
Privacy Smartglass can change from clear to a frosted appearance at the flick of a switch while allowing light to pass through from both sides.
BIPV Solar Glass
BIPV (building integrated photovoltaics) modules are panes of glass with built-in photovoltaic cells that are embedded between two sheets of glass.
Their function is a revolutionary innovation for glass because it significantly improves a building's economic and ecological balance, since BIPV modules allow glass solutions to generate energy using photovoltaic technologies.
BIPV modules can be integrated into a building in various forms, e.g. in facades, canopies, sunshades or balustrades.
